How a confidence grade is calculated
Nothing here is a single opinion score. Each claim is graded on its own and the game takes the grade of its weakest critical claim.
- Source class decides the ceiling
- A rating board or a store listing on that body's own domain scores highest. A publisher statement on the publisher's own site counts as first-party. An editorial article scores lower. An AI summary is capped at 24 and can never carry a claim on its own.
- Region, platform and edition are separate
- The same game is often rated differently in different places. Each rating is stored with its own region and platform, and none of them overwrites another.
- Conflicts are kept, not resolved
- When two sources of the same scope disagree, both stay and the grade is capped at 39. You are shown the disagreement instead of a false single answer.
- Evidence expires
- Every claim carries a retrieval date and a review deadline: one year for age ratings, 60 days for purchase and spending claims. Past the deadline the grade is capped at 69 and the claim is flagged.
- Missing evidence is never zero risk
- A critical claim with no source scores zero and stays "unknown". A game is never called safe because nothing was found.
- Cross-checking and human review raise the grade
- A second independent source adds points. Without a named human reviewer no claim can reach A, however good the source is.
History is append-only; superseded records remain in the audit export. Region, platform and edition are stored separately.
